| Dear First Family, It has been my privilege these past few weeks to present the many lessons on leadership found in the life of Nehemiah. Against incredible odds, Nehemiah motivated others to accomplish a remarkable feat - the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem in just 52 days.
Nehemiah's success can be attributed to many factors and characteristics - he had a personal passion for the project and knew that God had called him to this purpose; he maintained a positive attitude and persevered despite opposition; and, most importantly, he prayed diligently for God's direction and guidance every step of the way. Nehemiah also took the time to plan and develop a precise, detailed strategy before taking action.
In much the same way, First Family's Board of Directors works through a disciplined approach to planning and decision making before setting out to accomplish the work we feel God is calling us to do. Our decisions are based on a set of core principles that guide our thinking and planning efforts. These principles are drawn from the wisdom of the Bible and we believe, by running decisions and opportunities through these "principle filters," First Family will truly honor God in all of our actions and activities.
I wanted to share these guiding principles with you now while we are focusing our studies on how to be the kind of leader God wants us to be - in our homes, our church and our community. Like Nehemiah, we can expect some opposition along the way but, if we seek God's power and guidance through prayer, and then carefully plan our efforts based on such values as integrity, accountability and authenticity, we can accomplish great things for God's kingdom.
I encourage you to read the enclosed brochure and familiarize yourself with these guiding principles. Then, apply them to your own life as you grow and mature in the faith. I know God is calling First Family Church to accomplish great things in the coming year and I look forward to continuing our work together to reach the lost for Jesus Christ.
Your Pastor,
